#1 (0.228") HSS Drill Bit

IF YOU ARE PURCHASING THIS ITEM THEN BE SURE TO READ THE ENTIRE PAGE !

This #1 size drill bit (0.228") is used to slightly ream out the small plastic tremolo arm insert / tensioning bushing in the Fender American Deluxe, Ultra and Elite Strat tremolo bridges that accept the pop-in tremolo arm.

Primarily this modification / reaming is done because our custom manufactured stainless steel pop-in tremolo arms for the Fender American Deluxe, Ultra and Elite Strat are 0.218" in diameter and the inside diameter of the originally installed plastic tremolo arm insert / tensioning bushing can vary by a few thousands and may be smaller and our tremolo arms may have too tight of a fit. So if your bridges tremolo arm insert /tensioning bushings inside diameter is slightly too small to allow an easy insertion of our custom tremolo arms then this drill bit will ream it out to the correct size to allow our tremolo arms to insert easily.

If you decide to perform the modification to ream out your bushing it is required that you entirely remove the bridge from your Strat, remove the two tremolo arm tensioning Allen set screws from the back side of your tremolo block and remove the tremolo arm retaining clip BEFORE you attempt to ream out your bushing. After reaming your bushing be sure to remove all of the plastic shavings created from reaming out your bushing from within the tremolo block to prevent them from causing tremolo arm insertion issues. It does not take more than a few seconds to ream out your bushing, be sure to take care to insert the drill bit perpendicular to the insertion path of the tremolo arm within the bushing. You're not going to be drilling out any of the metal of the tremolo block, only a small amount of plastic from the inside of the bushing.

Once  you perform this modification to accommodate our tremolo arms your original Fender tremolo arm may fit loose, so if you ever decide to go back to an original Fender tremolo arm it may also be required that you replace your black plastic tremolo arm insert/tensioning bushing with an original sized one.

This procedure should only be accomplished by an experienced individual with proper tools and understanding of how to use these tools. Always use eye protection when attempting this modification.
